Alternate Picking

This is an exercise for alternate picking. You've got to pick down then up and down and up and down then up, you get the idea. Make sure to use all four left hand fingers (no thumb). Yes, pinky too! I've written this out until the 7th fret, but you should go up to 12th fret. Click for bigger image.

You should start slow...

Pick it up a little bit...

Then test your limit!

Make sure that you are picking all the notes. No hammer-ons or pull-offs. I guarantee you that if you do this for 30 minutes a day for two weeks, you will be an excellent picker.
