Solo Licks in G

These are some exercises that you can play over the Rock in G from the previous post. They are all based on 1st diagram of pentatonic minor scale in G. Ex.1 uses "pull-off" technique where you pick only the first note of the pair of slured notes. You have to slightly pluck the string with your left hand fingers as you pull them off. For Ex.2, use your ring finger to bend the 3rd string up. You have to bend that note C into D.

Some more licks. They use triplets where you divide one beat into three notes.

Make sure that you click on the music notation to view the bigger picture. I don't think you can see otherwise! And PLAY GUITAR NOW!

Except that the opening lick to the solo for Stairway to Heaven ends on F which doesn't belong in the A pentatonic minor scale.... Just giving you a hard time! I think 90% of what Angus plays is pretty much pentatonic minor scales. He made millions off of five notes! Imagine what you can do with six or even, god forbid, seven notes!

Was just checking out your post and thanks for the tips.

I often don't think about playing little licks in solos, I just work on a very basic system of the minor pentatonic scale, but that helps me since I've only really begun to play lead guitar in the last couple of years.
