Blue Note Records
Blue Note Records has been putting out great jazz recordings since the 1950's. Many great classic jazz giants from John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Clifford Brown, Bill Evans to modern day jazz masters like Wynton Marsalis, Norah Jones, Medeski, Martin & Woods, Charlie Hunter all have recorded great music for Blue Note.
I've been listening to a lot of this album lately.
Its master tape was discovered last year at the Library of Congress where it's been sitting on the shelf since 1958 when it was recorded. It is the only live recording available of Monk and Coltrane performing together outside of very low quality live recording made by Coltrane's wife on a tape recorder at New York's Five Spot also in 1958. Before this CD was released, I've read a lot of hypes and reviews about it and it lives up to all of it. It's smoking! When you say ROCK MUSIC, it can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people and it's the same with JAZZ in my opinion, but this is the kind of jazz that I like.
As far as Blue Note Records, I also recommend Hank Mobley's Soul Station. Look! I even found you a link for Blue Note CD Sales at the Tower Records!
