Palm Mute

Palm mute is a technique where the lower part of your picking hand's palm mutes the strings at the bridge. It produces semi-muffled sound. You'll know what I mean when you hear the following exercise. You don't want to mute too much because then you won't be able to hear the pitches. It is an essential part of daily life of a rock or metal guitar player. Click on it to get the bigger image.

Did you really think I was about to let you go without hearing one of my solos?
