Finding Keys

Time for ear training. Here is a simple sounding shuffle blues track. Can you find out what key it's in? Use the pentatonic minor scale.
Ex. 1

When you are trying to find out the key of a song, you have to just start randomly playing some notes and listen for notes that sound good. Like this.

Ex. 2 What about this?

You just know when you are in a wrong key, because it just sounds wrong!!!

Some songs can be played with minor pentatonic scale...

And major pentatonic scale.

Ex. 3 Your on your own on this one. This can only be played in major.

Dear Fake Musician,

Well, #1 is E, #2 is D and #3 is A, but I have a feeling that you have #1 and #2 mixed up and #2 and #3 mixed up. When you play #2 with D major pentatonic scale, it's the same as B minor pentatonic which is what you guessed for #1.

You said that #2 is A but it's #3 that's A. Thanks for playing anyway!
